Manfred Binzer’s works are full of optimistic lightness and transparency, yet also full of daring, allowing colors to flow freely into and over one another. His works embody a longing for distant lands and a dream of flight. This lightness and joy are incredibly contagious and immediately affect the surroundings and the viewer.
Binzer’s painting is both intuitive and calculated. His paintings are unmistakable and stylistically unique, thus following a clear artistic strategy. At the same time, chance is given space – a wonderful interplay between the free flow of colors and compositional stability defines the works. As in music, linear and planar forms overlap – a composition that relies on the clear, pure sound of a few instruments, whose assigned parts are clearly identifiable, yet allows ample room for improvisation and the thematic soundscape. “The sound of the colors is unmistakable – one almost feels as if one can hear these paintings. The works speak of an unlimited expanse, a expanse that is not empty, but filled with meditative stimuli.” (Martin Stather, long-time artistic director of the Mannheim Art Association, art historian, exhibition curator and author of numerous writings on contemporary art)
