“I am my mothers daughter” is a video installation that documents the mental emancipation process of a young woman who sees herself trapped in a world full of noticeable existential problems – characterized by capitalism, war, sexism and the climate crisis. The young woman’s powerlessness and discomfort are revealed through a scarlet color scheme that unites the figures of mother and daughter. The daughter inevitably becomes the guardian of the ideas of previous generations of mothers and thus refers to the “original symbol” of the image of the Virgin Mary – the futuristic head of the Madonna. In her red robe, the “eternal mother” stands for solidarity, care, fertility and vitality, but also for the will and courage to resist in the face of approaching tragedy.
