Undrakh Batbold

*1998 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

In her paintings, the Mongolian artist Unkdrakh Batbold combines her individual perception of the environment with spontaneous structures that originate from the subconscious. The images are the result of quick gestures, spontaneous coats of color, interweaving of brushstrokes, scrapings, repeating patterns and overlapping of outlines and figures. The artist plays with opacity and space – image elements lie on top of each other in two and three dimensions on different levels. This is how dream images arise, memories overlap one another, contours blur and yet form the basis for the points in front that appear like ripe berries or flying balloons.
