Which came first? The hen or the egg? Or perhaps neither? The question of the origin of mankind is at least as old as mankind itself.
However, we are normally not able to ‘find’ a satisfactory answer to the question of our origins.
Rather, it is the other way round – the answer randomly finds us. People can only find it through happiness – a circumstance that cannot be planned, but which seems to come about of its own accord. In the german language a symbol of this is the “blind chicken” that sometimes finds a grain (in english “even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while”). Just as the grain is essential for the chicken’s survival as food, the question of origins also seems to be essential for man’s survival and to determine his nature.
