In her art, Karen Jule Klöpfer deals with the transition between printmaking and painting and deliberately experiments with media breaks. The work “Kejetia” shows the famous Kejetia market in Kumasi, Ghana, where the artist spent a semester abroad. The colorful umbrellas conceal the largest market in West Africa with over 10,000 stalls. The partially overpainted transfer print, which is based on a photo collage, evokes associations with a billboard that is peeling off in many places.
