Cat.Rais. Descharnes: The Hard and the Soft, Sculptures & Objects, pg. 248 ref. 640

In protest against the high taxes that the Earl of Mercia wanted to impose on the citizens of Coventry in the 11th century, his wife Lady Godiva rode naked through the streets on horseback. This protest became a symbol of the fight against injustice, for independence and for female self-determination. The butterflies are symbols of change, freedom and natural beauty.

Original bronze edition, conceived in 1976 and first cast in 1980, personally authorized by Dali.
