Joseph first presented the tram stop in 1976 at the 37th Venice Biennale in the German Pavilion under the title “Tram Stop/ Strassenbahnhaltestelle/ Fermata del Tram. A monument to the future.” In this work, Beuys explores the concept of “social sculpture.”
