Alberto Saka

*1965 in Fier, Albania

Expressive painting in the incredible colors of the Venetian Laguna

The painting of the Albanian-Italian artist Alberto Saka (*1965) is an immediate and expressive play with bright colors, which he applies to the canvas using a dynamic action painting technique. Saka loves the direct contact with color, which he not only applies with a brush, but also likes to scoop directly from paint pots by hand – and brushes, pours, drips and splashes onto the canvas with verve.

He lives and works in the idyllic village of Stra in Veneto. To this day the special light of the Venetian lagoon is one of the main inspirations for his work. In his paintings, he fuses abstract, impulsive color creations with fragments from nature, creating new color horizons and suggesting water reflections through horizontal arrangements.

Biography

Alberto Saka was born on June 28, 1965, in the small town of Fier in Albania, around 100 km south of the capital Tirana. At the age of four, he was already enthusiastically painting and drawing portraits in pencil, but there was no paint available in the small town. When Alberto Saka fled to Italy in 1991, he discovered painting with acrylic and oil paints for himself: “It was like an explosion inside me”.

Today, Alberto Saka is represented by renowned galleries in Italy. His works are regularly exhibited at international art fairs in Padua, Milan, Rome, Forlì and Parma.
