Sunwoo Min understands painting as an intuitive artistic process guided by spontaneous thoughts. Dreams and spontaneous ideas are the starting point for his paintings.
In his work “The man who swallowed the clouds can no longer return home”, Sunwoo Min processes his own experiences. He himself has “swallowed the clouds”, has gone far away in search of his dream. Home seems far away on a green hill, out of reach. In between is an impenetrable landscape of forest and swamp that must be crossed. Nature becomes an allegory for life itself with all its resistance, obstacles and (as yet) unknown paths.
