The art year 2024 is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the birth of Caspar David Friedrich, whose art continues to have a major influence on contemporary art to this day. In the exhibition “Beyond Landscape”, Galerie Kellermann is presenting an exciting dialog with works by three artists who today deal with landscape painting and Romanticism in their very own, impressive way:
Sonja Kalb captures landscapes in a sensual way with color gradients that repeatedly flow into one another. The completely abstract works focus on feelings and atmosphere.
Christoph Pöggeler‘s surreal, romantic works tell of both the beauty and the vulnerability of nature. The artist uses found objects such as table tops and wooden boxes for his paintings, which are full of dreamlike depth and double meanings.
Xianwei Zhu combines Chinese Daoist landscape painting with modern abstraction. In homage to Caspar David Friedrich, Xianwei Zhu integrates small human shadows into his otherwise abstract works.
