Dali initially designed the motif of the young man with a butterfly for his famous Tarot series. The young man rushes towards the unknown and, instead of a torch, holds up a scepter with a butterfly as a symbol of metamorphosis and transformation. The young man himself is a symbol of life force, the combination with the butterfly symbolizes the duality of body and mind.

Original bronze edition, conceived in 1968 and first cast in 1984, personally authorized by Dali.
