Which images and scenarios are real? Which are pure fiction? In his artistic work, Linan Zhu deals with the complicated and multi-layered relationship between perceived images and reality, the increasing fusion of the virtual and the real. Linan Zhu takes his inspiration from internet images and transforms them into sculptures and installations to create immersive and highly narrative environments. His aim is to immerse the viewer in a surreal environment. Unexpected discrepancies and provoked misunderstandings lead to the cognitive deconstruction and reconstruction of the scenery, the inherent discipline of the image is dissolved and objective reality is blurred. A multitude of possible interpretations open up. Is the boy sitting unsuspectingly like a fly in a carnivorous plant and being swallowed by it? Is he enthroned confidently and securely on the defeated nature? Or does the plant protect the boy like a canopy? Harmony or a fight for survival? Anything is possible.
