Matilde Romagnoli

“Twice Me” is a very personal work by the artist: once she carries herself on her shoulders and once she sits on her own shoulders. The wearer is straining. Even when the dreamer’s goal is almost beyond her strength, she remains upright and carries her wherever she wants to go. The work shows the dichotomy between easy artistic vision and hard effort in realization.

Matilde Romagnoli modeled the double self-portrait in the art foundry in Munich; the casting comes partly from the academy foundry and partly from the art foundry in Munich. Both places have a special meaning for the artist – places where she was able to learn bronze foundry and develop artistically.
