In his famous portfolio Flordali (Flora Dalinae) from 1968, Dali was inspired by the colorful and detailed ancient botanica, which were still colored by hand. For this purpose, elaborate stencils were made, so-called “pochoirs” – a separate stencil for each color shade. In this portfolio, Dali combined drypoint etchings with pochoir coloring. The landscape appears as a fine black etching, with the colorful floral work on it. Because it is hand-colored, each graphic is essentially unique.

The cobea, as a touch-sensitive plant, is similar to the mimosa as a symbol for the senses, here represented by fingers and eyes.
