Inspired by a trip to Venice, the British artist Kelvin Gray refers to the 4 panels of the work “Visions of the Beyond” by Hieronymus Bosch from the Gallerie Accademia. The series shows the stages from heaven to hell: terrestrial paradise (the garden), rise of the blessed (the flood), fall of the damned into hell (the judgment) and hell (the fire).
Kelvin Gray addresses this master cycle with a 4-part series entitled Visions Of The Hereafter, a polyptych consisting of four gardens that evolves from the current earthly paradise to our potential future landscape with disturbing scenes of floods, fires and storms. The entire work is a statement by the artist on climate change and its possible effects on our world.
